Exclusive interview: Rolf Göran Bengtsson before Rio 2016

Atlasbalans interviews Rolf Göran Bengtsson before the competitions in Rio 2016.

  • Preparations before
  • Why Casall Ask will not be competing
  • What does the Olympic Games mean to Rolf Göran Bengtsson?

On August 14th, it is time for Rolf Göran Bengtsson and the Swedish team to make an entrance in Rio 2016. The hopes for the Swedish team are great and there are possibilities for medals, both individually and in the team competition. But for Rolf Göran Bengtsson the trip to Rio 2016 has been anything but easy.

It was in the 2012 London Olympics it was supposed to happen. Rolf Göran Bengtsson’s star horse Casall Ask was at the height of his career when that, which is not allowed to happen happened – an injury destroyed several years of preparation and the Olympics ended in disappointment. Since then Casall Ask despite his age continued to deliver great results, but there will not be any Olympic Games for the big star. But that is not because he is not good enough, it is respect and compassion that keeps him at home.

“He is 17 years old and we do not want to expose him to such a tough competition as an Olympic Game”

When we meet Rolf Göran Bengtsson at Schloss Breitenburg northwest of Hamburg for another round of Deep Wave Treatment he says that he has no doubts that Casall could perform in the Olympics. But there is a risk that it could be too much. Casall has given so much for so long and he deserves to finish on top, with dignity.

Instead it will be Unita Ask who goes to Rio and considering how she looked during the spring, chances are good. Märta Lindqvist, deep wave therapist, has flown down to Hamburg to treat, among others Unita, Casall and Clarimo about once a month since November 2015. When we reach her on the phone, we ask her about the latest round of deep wave treatment, shortly before his departure to Rio, and the status of Unita Ask.

“Unita is so incredibly smart and she always does her best. She now feels very nice in the body and has all the potential to do well in Rio.”

Märta herself could not go to Rio, but the national team’s osteopath George Oduro has, as at every major competition, brought with him a Deep wave machine. When they talked the other day he said that they are in full preparation, and ensuring that the horses are soft and flexible before the races.

We at Atlasbalans will keep our fingers crossed and follow the races with excitement.

Exclusive Interview: Rolf Göran Bengtsson on Falsterbo Horse Show

Rolf Göran Bengtsson in an exclusive interview with Atlasbalans on Falsterbo Horse Show in 2016 and how Deep Wave Treatment has become a regular part of the preparations before the competition.

In early May, we visited Rolf Göran Bengtsson at Schloss Breitenburg northwest of Hamburg. It was time for the sixth round Deep Wave Treatment of 9-10 selected horses, including superstar Casall Ask and Olympic hope Unita. He also took the time to take part in an interview

“It is exciting to come to Falsterbo, we always look forward to it”

“Falsterbo is somewhat of a home arena to me – and the crowd is fantastic”

Falsterbo Horse Show 2016 is the final common event for the team that is going to the Olympics. Rolf Göran explains how the plan is to let the horses compete in the larger classes in April, May and June and then take a step back in July.

“It is important not to go on too hard so that you come to Rio with an energetic and fresh horse, and here we have a continuous plan of treatment, with the help of the machine.”

When we ask what Falsterbo means to Rolf Göran he describes how the actual competition got better as each year passed, but what makes Falsterbo special is the audience:

“It is somewhat of a home-field, I am not that far away from there. Fantastic crowd, enthusiastic, it is always sold out.”

How Atlasbalans ended up at Rolf Göran Bengtsson’s

Travelled from Germany to Skåne – got help with groin injury in 2014

It was in the spring of 2014 that Ridsportförbundets then President Anders Mellberg called his old friend, who is also CEO of Atlasbalans, Hans Bohlin.

Our star is injured. Are you not engaged in some kind of wellness? Can you help him? “

Said and done. Hans telephoned Rolf Göran, told him about the treatment and all of a sudden three treatments had been booked at a clinic in Skåne. A few months later, when Atlasbalans exhibited at Falsterbo Horse Show in 2014, it was a happy and restored elite rider who came by the booth for an interview (found below).

“We can treat your horses too”

Since the launch of Deep Wave Treatments for horses in the summer of 2014, interest in the treatment has exploded. Just in 2015 some 30 therapists began working with the Deep wave machine and treatment results have been incredible; trotting horses have been running faster, jumping horses have been jumping higher and rehabilitation from injury has become easier.

So at the end of 2015 Hans went along with Märta Lindqvist to Rolf Göran down in Hamburg to treat around 10 horses at the Stable Bengtsson-Kristoffersen. Today Deep Wave Treatment is a regular part of the preparations for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Two machines are in place at the stable and Märta Lindqvist has left instructions for the preemptive and softening treatment to the stablemen. She herself goes about once a month to review the treatment process:

“It is amazingly fun! To actually notice that “the treatment has this good of an effect.” There has also been rather little or no direct injuries to the horses. “

Rolf Göran describes how it has worked well and done a lot for the horses, and it is particularly noticeable on a couple of them. He believes that the treatment is a good complement to their regular work with the horses just to loosen that, which is stuck.

Gothenburg Horse Show

In the end of 2015 Rolf Göran Bengtsson began using Deep Wave Treatment on his horses. During Gothenburg Horse Show in March 2016 we took the opportunity to interview him on the treatment’s effect. Falsterbo Horse Show

Longtime injured Rolf-Göran Bengtsson went from Germany to Anderslöv just north of Trelleborg for three treatments with the new technology “Deep wave treatment” and got great results, “Sylve called and said ‘we have something new that we want to try.'”
