Fascia has been a neglected part of medicine for a very long time but it’s becoming increasingly more recognized as a vital part in a lot of musculoskeletal disorders.
David Lesondak is a structural integrator and a myofascial specialist and has been working for many years trying to explain what fascia is, as well as the benefits you get from treating different problems with fascial treatment.
In an interview at the Fascia Research Congress in Berlin 2018, he describes the basics of what fascia is and what challenges it is facing in the strive for recognition in the medical field.
What is fascia?
It’s an all-enveloping network of connective tissue and it has a greater impact on our health than we previously thought. You may know the human body has that thin tissue around our muscles. New research shows that the connective tissue is more than that. It is a network without beginning or end that runs through the entire body. Because fascia is not so well understood fascia problems are often under-diagnosed, according to David Lesondak.
